Waiting for the Magic

Just a quick note to bitch about impatience.

I’ve been patiently waiting for modelers to begin to exhibit MORE patience for several million years. But, instead, they exhibit LESS and LESS patience every decade.

They want what they want when they want it.

But with a brush, good results can require that you put on a coat of whatever, and then watch it bubble up or turn frosty or get weird, and then you wait. Overnight, maybe. Until it settles down, and the elves appear, and it’s all better.

You get up in morning and run down to the workshop like it was Christmas morning in 1965…

The decals, did they stay crinkled?

No. They’ve sucked down to the surface and look like paint.

The clear flat, did it remain frosty? No. It’s as smooth as a baby’s butt.

The Tamiya Gloss Acrylic paint? Did it stay all brush-marked and pocked like a battlefield in Flanders? No. It’s also as smooth as that same baby’s butt.

Glue cures. Paint dries. Decals settle. Stuff gets okay without one damn bit of help from you, cowboy.

It’s the way of the West.

  1. Why do anything on your own when you can ask the world? Why wait for stuff to cure – it should do so instantly! I get in touch with all mi friends instantly who do not stuff cure instantly!
The age of try it yourself and be patient is long gone. Why try when you’d be able to read it online?

Magic doesn’t exist so why wait for it.. 😉

  2. Nail on the Noggin. Tis is why the plethoras of aftermarket goodies has come on with cascades of mouth watering very expensive goodies.
