Zipless Modeling: P-51B Part 2

We’re sailing into uncharted waters now boys. Building with the wheels up removes most of the stuff about model building that I don’t like. No fidgety landing gear. No wheels. No struts.

That’s three things right there!

I filled the cracks in the gear door installation with Golden’s Molding Paste. I applied it from inside and pressed it into the gaps, then flipped the assembly over and wiped off the excess with a damp tissue.

No sanding required.

Hmmm. I see one remaining gap that may require more goo. The Golden’s Molding Paste is made for professional artists so it doesn’t shrink and can be painted over immediately.

What a world.

Here’s the pilot with his black primer.

I painted the stand in Tamiya Flat Black and then highlighted the lettering with a gold Sharpie.

I’m thinking I might use the stand.

  1. The Golden paste is a wonder of the world – thanks for the tip. 🙂 The best thing is it can be applied upon paint and then painted. Easy way of getting rid of seamlines.
That stand really looks the part with the gold lettering.
