Astronauts!
Lots of people have been trying to talk the problem of space flight to death. Space X is actually doing something about it. Right now, at 17:00 Central Daylight Time the final portion of the Demo 2 Mission to the ISS is getting ready to start up.
If everybody were like me, the streets would be empty and instead of stuffing ourselves with snacks while watching something pointless like the Super Bowl we’d all be scarfing down pizza rolls while watching the human species as it slowly hatches from its earthly egg.
I watched this live on the internet. The lack of enthusiasm over it through the media was profound. Meanwhile…

They have big dreams. Kind of reminds me of the US back in the 60s before it all fell flat. Perhaps competition was the missing piece of the puzzle? We shall see.

The dream is still there, its just America (and much of the rest of the West) is too busy whipping themselves and naval gazing these days. Space should be something that is concentrated on and made into a national interest. Instead it is sidelined. Not enough profit in it or something. The West has lost its way.
